Transitional Houses

Another Step in Helping People to Live Independently

Project ECHO, Inc. has expanded its services to include two transitional houses, which are located behind the main ECHO shelter. These homes are designated for single families or as group homes, and will be made available to appropriate clients up to a two year rental lease.

Transitional housing allows individuals the time and opportunity to learn the skills required to be self-sufficient and to succeed in the housing market. Clients are assigned a case manager to assist them in developing life skills in such areas as budgeting, goal setting, bill paying, and general home management and maintenance. Furthermore, transitional housing helps clients to get a credit rating by eventually obtaining the utilities and similar services in their name.

Additional volunteers are needed for the new transitional housing. Home renovation work is needed such as painting, yard work, and furnishing the new facilities. Tutors/mentors are needed to guide tenants and their children.
