DONATIONS

ECHO gratefully accepts donations of financial assistance, household items, and non-perishable food, but because of space limitations, contributions of clothing and furniture cannot be accepted.  Donations can be brought to the shelter, preferably between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. See our Wish List. ECHO is a United Way Combined Federal Campaign participant.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are urgently needed to staff the shelter.  Four shifts of two volunteers each are needed every day of the year (6 a.m. to noon; noon to 6 p.m.; 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) The tasks of volunteers include supervising residents, answering phones, interviewing applicants, helping to serve meals, performing office duties.

Meal Providers:  Evening meals and weekend lunches at ECHO are provided by volunteers 365 days a year. The meals are prepared in the homes of the volunteers and brought to the shelter.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING:  Additional volunteers are needed for the new transitional housing. Home renovation work is needed such as painting, yard work, and furnishing the new facilities. Tutors/mentors are needed to guide tenants and their children.
