St. John Vianney Catholic Church
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
A Journey of Faith
RCIA WEEK 4:
The
Holy Trinity: Jesus Christ -- True God, True Man
Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 481:
“Jesus
Christ possesses two natures, one divine and the other human, not confused, but
united in the one person of God's Son.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 482:
“Christ,
being true God and true man, has a human intellect and will, perfectly attuned
and subject to his divine intellect and divine will, which he has in common
with the Father and the Holy Spirit.”
MEDITATION: Why should God have become man?
Why
are Christ’s divine and human natures both essential for understanding his
Paschal mystery and his gift of redemption?
“The soul hungers for
God, and nothing but God can satiate it. Therefore He came to dwell on earth
and assumed a Body in order that this Body might become the Food of our
souls…"
