Minutes of the September 8, 2005 meeting were read and approved with corrections.

 

Grand Knight Report

 

  • Applications have been received and interviews are scheduled for Ronald Burns and Nicholas Walmak
  • Columbus Day Ball, Sat. 10/8, was a great success and pictures will be available at the next business meeting.
  • New books for the 1st Degree Ceremonial have been delayed.  Existing documents will be used for the interim
  • Volunteers were requested for Chairmen of Christmas card sales at each church:  Larry Donnelly will chair overall effort with Carl McClanahan for SJV and Jim Rank for JDW.
  • Collections for Little Sisters of the Poor will continue through 12/1/05
  • 108th Annual Maryland State Convention will be held 5/19 – 5/21 at the Royale Oceanfront Resort, Ocean City.  Reservations may be made starting 11/1/05
  • Annual Memorial Mass and Reception will be held on Sunday, 11/13/05, at St John the Evangelist Church.  The fee is $17/pp in advance.  Names of all brother Knights and wives who died this last year are needed to ensure their remembrance at Mass. 
  • Latino Night will be held at SJV on Sat, 10/15, at 1830.  Knights are encouraged to show up early and help cook.  Donations are appreciated and proceeds will go to benefit the SJV sister parish in Mexico.

 

Chaplain’s Report: 

  • Rev. Fr. Jordan was transferred to a new parish on 9/30/05. 
  • Rev. Fr. Daniel Leary has accepted the GK’s request to serve as new Council Chaplain.  A reception will be held for him on Sunday, 16 Oct, from 1300 – 1500 at JDV.
  • Pocket change collection for seminarians from all 3 Parishes totaled $1200.

 

Treasurer’s Report

  • Total deposits for month:  $1,961.85
  • Total Disbursements for month:  $857.65
  • Account Balance (09/30/05):  $2,137.61
  • Motion passed to pay the bills.

 

No Warden’s Report

 

Financial Secretary Report: 

·        Council has met 12.5% of its new member quota to date

·        No new insurance members to report

·        The new car/truck raffle realized $3,406.  Total of $1,582 has been sent to State.

Trustee Report:  Certificate of Appreciation should be sent to Dealership for car donation.

 

No Chancellor’s Report

 

 

 

 

Program Chairman: 

  • All Night Adoration was held at JDW 1st Friday of the month. A Benediction and Mass was held at 9AM followed by light breakfast.  Fr. Leary has requested that Knights continue this 1St Friday Adoration every month.
  • Rosaries:
      • SJV, 1st Sat. of the month before 5pm Mass
      • SFD, 2nd Sun. of the month before 9am Mass
      • JDW, 3rd Sun. of the month before 10am Mass
  • Service trip to New Orleans was conducted by Larry Donnelly, Chuck Knapper, and Jerry Murrow.
  • The statue has been ordered for the Memorial to the Unborn @ SJV and should be here in early December.
  • The Pro-Life Booth at the Calvert County was again very successful this second year of operation.
  • Tootsie Roll Drive will continue into December.  Chairmen are Robt Sullivan (JDW), Carl McClanahan (SFD), and Bob Wahl (SJV).

Youth Programs

  • Council Soccer Shootout winners:  Stephen Corcoran –Boy’s, Age 11/12

  • District Soccer Shootout will occur Sat, 11/12/05, starting at 1230pm at Ann Arundel Community College.
  • Date and time in January is needed for the Basketball Free Throw Championship.  Robt Cross has for action.

 

 

Old Business

  • A list of widows for Knights VIP cards is needed.  Carl McClanahan has this for action.

 

 

New Business

  • Motion:  Cancel the regular social meeting scheduled for Nov 24 due to  Thanksgiving.  Passed
  • Motion:  Combine the regular December social meeting with Lord  Baltimore assembly on 3rd Thursday in December.  Passed.
  • Motion:  Support children’s Christmas Day in December.  Motion tabled until date and agenda could be identified.

 

4th Degree Report:  No report

 

District Deputy Report: 

  • Support for the State Convention and State Charity Campaign is requested
  • 1st Degree Ceremony will be conducted 27 October @ JDW.
  • Star Council Awards will be conducted on 25 October at St Anthony’s.  Suit and tie.  Awards begin at 1930
  • Eight months left to meet our recruitment quota.
